Ulaanbaatar, February 29,  2024. /MONTSAME/. The National Committee on Tourism Development, headed by Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai, held its first meeting of 2024 on February 28, 2024.

The Government of Mongolia has declared 2023-2025 as the "Years to Visit Mongolia." Last year, the country received 651,061 tourists, generating about USD 1.2 billion or MNT 4.4 trillion in revenue. In 2023, the Government approved plans and allocated funds for events aimed at attracting tourists. A total of 69 events including 23 special programs were supported. With a special program targeted to tourists from China, Russia, the Republic of Korea, and Japan, creating a favorable legal environment for the tourism industry, and implementing comprehensive international advertising and marketing measures to promote Mongolia globally, the number of users interested in the country on online platforms is increasing.

To develop winter tourism, Khuvsgul Aimag has launched the "Blue Bear" campaign. The aimag introduced the "One Tourist - One Sheep" program aiming at boosting community-based tourism.  Moreover, tourists have been exempted from value-added taxes.

To promote Mongolia abroad and increase tourist flow in 2024, the "Go MonGOlia" event is planned for target countries. At the meeting of the National Committee, a secretariat in charge of identifying pressing issues to develop tourism and submitting proposals to the National Committee on Development of Tourism and the Government was established. Additionally, the Committee decided to provide policy support to the construction of tourism infrastructure to ensure comfortable travel for tourists visiting Mongolia.
