Sukhbaatar ship to become museum

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the Cabinet’s regular meeting on November 3, the Minister of Environment and Tourism and the Governor of Khuvsgul aimag were instructed to submit proposals to ensure preservation of Sukhbaatar ship and turn the ship into a museum for tourists.


The Minister of Defense was also instructed to reward the team for pulling the sunken ship from Khuvsgul Lake. 

 

Efforts to take out the Sukhbaatar ship that sank into Khuvsgul Lake in 1985 began on October 1, 2021, to protect the lake’s ecosystem and reduce pollution. Over 120 personnel from the National Emergency Management Agency, General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, and emergency departments of the capital city and Orkhon and Khuvsgul aimags are taking part in the action.
