Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On World Water Day, March 22, the Embassy of the United States in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) are launching a video series to illustrate the impact of the MCC-MONGOLIA Compact on the quality of water in Ulaanbaatar, which will improve human health, the environment, and sustainable economic growth.

Climate change and urbanization, among other factors, are putting pressure on Ulaanbaatar’s water supply, and if not addressed, the city and its people could face an imminent water shortage.

The first video in the series can be found here to watch, here to download, and on social media channels (Facebook and Twitter).

This project to provide public information on the purpose of the MCC Water Compact to provide greater access to clean water for the city of Ulaanbaatar was financed by MCC and the U.S. Embassy. Other videos in the series will be released between World Water Day and Earth Day on April 22, 2021.

The MCC, the U.S. Embassy, and the Government of Mongolia are partnering to ensure sustainable water for the future of Ulaanbaatar under the MCC Mongolia Water Compact of $350 million. The Government of Mongolia will also contribute $111.8 million to support the investment, among the largest partner country contributions in MCC’s history.
