Ulaanbaatar, June 16, 2025 /MONTSAME/. By
adopting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the General Assembly,
the United Nations Member States fully committed to implementing the principle
of leaving no one behind and set the goal to “Achieve Gender Equality”.
The General Department of Taxation of Mongolia implemented
the “Gender Equality Seal” program with the support of the United Nations
Development Programme and has been recognized with the Silver Gender Equality
Seal. The online Global Awards Ceremony 2025 took place on June 12, 2025, and
certificates were awarded.
This makes the General Department of Taxation of Mongolia the first tax organization in the Asia-Pacific region and the first state institution in Mongolia to receive the Seal.
The Gender Equality Seal is a global UNDP initiative that aims to promote gender equality within organizations. UNDP advisors from the Asia-Pacific, led by Global Director of Gender Equality at UNDP Raquel Lagunas and Advisor Ellen Johnson Sirleaf participated in the online ceremony.
Commissioner of the General Department of Taxation of
Mongolia Chimidsuren Choigunsen noted “As a result of the Gender Seal program,
we have increased our staff’s knowledge and understanding of gender concepts
and strengthened the capacity of our institution for further refinement of
gender-sensitive tax policies, setting the foundation for steady implementation.
The General Department of Taxation of Mongolia has reflected gender principles in
the Strategic and Operational Plans for 2025-2028, in addition to implementing
taxpayer-centered innovative technologies.”
“In the implementation of the 4-year national program aimed
at improving public tax education, we focus on providing equal and accessible tax
education and organizing training gender-sensitive, regarding its contents and
forms, taking into consideration every taxpayer’s particular needs, and following
the principle of leaving no target group behind.
We hope that the inclusion of gender principles and
concepts in our institutional internal rules and documents will lead other
state organizations and make significant societal changes.
Result-oriented decision-making methodologies and
management practices are vital to providing accessible, fair, and transparent
public services.
Supportive leadership from management and the staff’s
efforts toward a united goal are key to the success of an organization,” added Commissioner
