Mongolian Judokas to Compete in the 2025 World Judo Championships Depart for Budapest

Ulaanbaatar, June 10, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 2025 World Judo Championships will kick off on June 13, 2025, in Budapest, Hungary.

 

At the Championships, over 560 athletes from 93 countries will compete, with 18 Mongolian judokas wrestling in seven weight classes for men's and women's categories. The first group of Mongolian athletes departed for Budapest, Hungary, on June 10, 2025, specifically, female wrestlers in the 48, 52, and 57-kilogram weight classes, and male wrestlers in the 60, 66, and 73-kilogram weight classes led by Senior Coach U. Erdenebaatar, Coaches Ch. Boldbaatar, P. Nyamlkhagva, and M. Bundmaa.

 

The Mongolian team competing in the 2025 World Judo Championships comprises of:

Men

60 kg: E. Ariunbold, K. Yolk

66kg: Yo. Baskhuu, B. Ekhembayar

73 kg: L. Ankhzaya, O. Uranbayar

81 kg: O. Shinebayar

90 kg: B. Khuderchuluun

+100 kg: B. Gonchigsuren

 

Women:

48 kg: G. Narantsetseg, J. Anudari

52 kg: L. Sosorbaram

57 kg: T. Ariunzaya

63 kg: L. Enkhriilen, B. Gankhaich

70 kg: D. Yesui, B. Nyam-Erdene

+78 kg: A. Adyasuren

 

Mixed team: Ts. Gan-Erdene will participate in the 90-kilogram class, with D. Nominzul in the 78-kilogram weight class.

 

K. Yolk, O. Uranbayar, O. Shinebayar, B. Khuderchuluun, J.  Anudari, T. Ariunzaya, and D. Yesui are participating in the adult-category world championship for the first time, while B. Gankhaich, the most experienced in world championships, is to wrestle on the world ring for the seventh time.

 

The total prize money for the Championship is EUR 998,000, with EUR 20,800 for the Champion, EUR 12,000 for the runner-up, and EUR 6,400 for the bronze medalist. As for the mixed team category, a prize sum of EUR 72,000 will be awarded to the gold, EUR 48,000 to the silver, and EUR 20,000 to the bronze medalist.

 

In the men's division, the 66 kg weight class has drawn the largest number of competitors with 51 judokas, while the +100 kg category has the fewest at 33. On the women’s side, the 48 kg and 63 kg divisions each feature 44 athletes, with 32 judokas set to compete in the +78 kg weight class.
