‘Capital of Khaans – Kharkhorin’ exhibition opens

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On September 19, National Library of Mongolia opened ‘Capital of Khaans-Kharkhorin’ exhibition on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the city of Kharkhorin (Karakorum), the capital city of the Great Mongol Empire and the 435th anniversary of the Erdene Zuu Monastery.


The exhibition is presenting portraits of Mongolian khaans as well as photographs and documents relating to the 1891 expedition to Orkhon under the German–Russian turkologist Wilhelm Radloff. Moreover, facsimile copies of Mongolian historical sources, and scriptures and historical documents about the Erdene Zuu Monastery located in nowadays Uvurkhangai aimag.


Minister of Culture S.Chuluun, Director of the government agency of Culture and Art Ts.Natsagdolgor, Director of the National Library B.Ichinhorloo and scholars took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.


The exhibition will run through October 19.
