Double-decker bus service to be introduced within July
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Double-decker bus service is being
tested in Ulaanbaatar. On June 14, Governor of the capital city and Mayor of
Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan went for a ride on a double-decker bus and according to the governor, the safe and comfortable public transport vehicles will be put into service in Ulaanbaatar within
next month.
“10 double-decker buses have recently been brought into the country and another 40 buses will be added next year as part of the effort to improve
the buses providing public transport service in the capital city and many more works
will be further carried out in this effort. The buses are expected to cover 90
percent of their operating costs without burdening the municipal budget,” the governor
said.
The 100 percent electric double-decker buses each have 70
seats and can go 400 kilometers per charge. Preparations are being made to introduce
46 electric buses, 10 double-decker and 36 single-decker buses, into public
transport service in Ulaanbaatar.
