Ambassador to Japan works in Musashimurayama, Tokyo
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Japan D.Batjargal paid a working visit to Musashimurayama,
Tokyo on February 10. Musashimurayama is one of the 18 host towns of Mongolia
under the Host Town Initiative, a project which the Government of Japan has
been promoting to local governments across Japan to open up opportunities for
sports-based exchanges between local residents and people from around the world
in preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
At the meeting, Musashimurayama Mayor Masaru Fujino informed
of the works carried out under the Host Town Initiative. According to the
Mayor, 10 middle school students of Musashimurayama visited Mongolia between
July and August 2019, exploring the country’s culture and way of life and Khan-Uul
district of the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar has started cooperating with Musashimurayama
and had its delegation get acquainted with the Japanese city last March.
The Japanese side also expressed its willingness to develop a sister city
relationship with Khan-Uul for a long-term partnership and it was noted that representatives
led by the district’s Governor J.Aldarkhaan will therefore be working in Musashimurayama
on March 5-6.
Former Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan, member of the country's House of Representatives Seiji Kihara who represents Musashimurayama at the
Japanese legislature was present at the meeting.
