Exhibition ‘Mongolia is far and near’ opens

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On February 5, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Joint Russian-Mongolian Integrated Biological Expedition of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia, an exhibition ‘Mongolia is far and near’ was opened at the State Darwin Museum. The organizers are the State Darwin Museum and the A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, Russian Academy of Sciences.


The opening speech was made by D. Galsandondog, Councillor of the Embassy of Mongolia to the Russian Federation, and A.I. Klyukin, Director of the State Darwin Museum. Councillor D.Galsandondog emphasized, “We believe that the exhibition will expand knowledge of visitors, in particular children and youth on Mongolian nature and nomads’ way of life, leaving unforgettable experience and inspiring them to travel and study more about Mongolia.”


The exhibition displays floral diversity exhibits, paintings by Konstantin Flerov during his trips to Mongolia, stuffed animals of not only of large mammals of Mongolia, such as the Mongolian dzeren, the red wolf and Przhevalsky’s horse but also of the numerous rodents that inhabit different natural zones of the country - jerboa jerboas, Mongolian gerbils and hamsters, yellow pies.


During the opening of the exhibition that gathered about 200 guests, Mongolian students in Moscow presented a mini-cultural performance.  Academicians Ch.Dugarjav and Yuri Dgebuadze, as well as others, attended the opening and gave remarks.

The exhibition will continue until April 26.
