Mongolia receives 23.9 thousand tourists in January

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia received 23.9 thousand tourists in January 2019, showing 11.7 percent growth in revenue of the sector.
In 2018, 529.3 thousand tourists visited Mongolia. A total of 6.1 million people crossed the border of the country by double count, of which 598.5 thousand were foreign citizens. 529.3 thousand of them were tourists and 69 thousand came to work and study. Number of tourists from Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey and India has increased.
Mongolia strives to boost its tourism and Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat said “The Government took actions to bring the country’s tourism at a new level in 2018, which is one of Three Pillar Development policy of Mongolia. The Government has officially approved its tourism routes for the first time and allocated MNT 6.2 billion in 2019 state budget.”
