Nuudelchin Mongol festival to take place in August

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The ‘Nuudelchin Mongol' or Nomadic Mongolia Festival’, integrating the ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival’ and the ‘Sixth National Sports Festival’, is to be held on August 11-15 at Mongol Naadam complex in Khui Doloon Khudag.
The festival intends to organize events aimed to keep, protect, study and publicize intangible cultural heritage (ICH), identify and glorify ICH and its inheritors from all over the country and improve their talents, as well as enrich registration and database of the cultural heritage under the Law on the Protection of Cultural Heritage, the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and inter-sector collaboration.
This year, the first stage competitions of the ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival’ and the ‘Sixth National Sports Festival’ were held at soum, district, aimag and capital city levels. The ‘Nuudelchin Mongol Festival’, which is the second stage competitions, will involve over 400 talented people who hold ICH and craftsmen and about 2000 national sportspeople from 21 aimags and nine capital districts, having their strengths, intelligence, talent and skills competed over five days.
Organizing committee of the festival will award the first place winner aimag or district MNT 20 million, second place winner MNT 15 million and third place winner MNT 10 million as well as trophies and certificates of achievement respectively.
In addition, the committee, supporter organizations and the sponsors will award prizes to inheritors who restored the forgotten heritage, preserved the ethnic style and performed heritage skills at high level and people who successfully participated in the sports competitions during the festival.
