Citizens’ Representative Khural to approve plan on reducing air pollution
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Citizens’ Representative Khural’s meeting is taking place on January 27 to approve plan to combat air pollution.
The meeting is scheduled to discuss following issues including,
- Approval of the "air pollution reduction plan".
- Re-establishing “National emergency committee on air pollution of Ulaanbaatar”,
- Discussing sub-program for reducing air pollution,
- Formulating "Smog-free City 2030” project for discussion within April 2017.
Due to the “Anti-Smog Union of Fathers and Mothers” NGO's request for publicization of the report on actions for reducing air pollution, the Governor and the Mayor of the City, S.Batbold made statement on the last 10 year's actions for reducing air pollutions.
By the report, the Government has spent MNT 119.779 billion from the budget and MNT 87.187 billion from foreign aids and loans. A total of MNT 206.964 billion were spent to reduce air pollution in the last decade.
The projects carried-out with those funds included:
- Project to support production of eco-friendly fuels
- Project to reduce emissions of automobiles
- Coal project
- Project for 97 thousand improved stoves and their discounts.
On the note, the second protest against smog will take place at the Central square from 12 pm to 13:30pm on January 28.
