Government in debt to 2,069 successful athletes
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In accordance with the law, athletes who grabbed medal from Olympics, world and regional competitions deserve cash prizes. However, the law implementation was somewhat deficient in the recent years.
Originally, the adoption of such regulations resulted in increased number of athletes in the global and regional tournaments, as well as the Olympic games, which is attended by 43 Mongolian athletes in nine sports categories in the Rio 2016.
As of the end of 2015, there are 2,069 athletes and coaches, who have satisfied the criteria of being awarded cash prizes, which totals to MNT 1.7 billion.
The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday considered this issue, and resolved to reflect the amount necessary in the State Budget Clarifications.
