Transport sees slight slowdown in 2015

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In 2015, 35.8 million tons of freight and 260.0 million passengers (double counting) were carried by all types of transport. This shows that the amount of carried freight decreased 25.5 million tons or 19.7 percent and the number of passengers by 220.8 million or 24.5 percent agaisnt 2014.

Last year, 19,143.9 thousand tons of freight and 2,789.9 thousand passengers (double counting) were carried by train. Compared to 2014, the carried freight decreased 1,947.7 thousand tons or 9.4 percent and the number of passengers -- by 515.9 thousand or 15.6 percent.

Revenue from the railway transport in 2015 reached MNT 387.5 billion, decreasing MNT 40.4 billion or 9.4 percent compared to 2014.

Air transport carried 2,839.3 tons freight and 616.4 thousand passengers (double counting) in 2015. Against 2014, carried freight decreased 597.4 tons or 17.4 percent and passengers--by 65.8 thousand or 9.6 percent.

Revenue of the air transport reached MNT 247.7 billion, increasing MNT 1.5 billion or 0.6 percent compared to the previous year.
