PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first eight months of this year, 12,175.4 thousand tons of freight and 1,961.1 thousand passengers (duplicated counting) were carried by railway transport.
Compared to same period of the previous year, the freight decreased by 790.9 thousand tons or 6.1%, while the number of passengers declined by 370.3 thousand or 15.9%.
In the first eight months of this year, the revenue from railway transport reached MNT 248.6 billion, showing a decrease of MNT 24.3 billion or 8.9% against the previous year.
1,848.9 tons of freight and 432.8 thousand passengers (duplicated counting) were carried by air transport in the first eight months of 2015. The size of freight decreased by 494.8 tons or 21.1% and the number of passengers--by 51.0 thousand or 10.5 percent in the first eight months.
In the same period, the revenue of air transport reached MNT 174.6 billion, increasing by MNT 3.4 billion or 2.0% against the previous year.
