Earthquake in Gobi-Altai felt in neighboring aimag
Today, at 11:03:11am, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the area, 30km southeast from Tonkhil soum of Gobi-Altai aimag.
273 species of birds lives near the bank of Bulgan River
Bulgan soum of Khovd aimag is UNIQUE for having an ecosystem consisting of rare plants and animals. Thus, 31 percent of the total territory of Bulgan soum is included in the State Special Protected Area in aims of protecting the untouched nature, and preservation for future generations.
Border fences removed for wildlife migration
The border troops identified that the Argali wild sheep (Ovis ammon) flock had repeatedly knocked off the border fence in three parts near the Tsagaan River in Sagil soum of Uvs province in the Altai Sayan ecoregion. Therefore, with the funding of WWF-Mongolia, the province Environment and Tourism Department, Uvs Nuur Strictly Protected Area Administration, together with border troop unit dismantled some of the fences and made a way for wildlife migration.
