10 thousand children to be gifted free milk on Children’s Day
As the UN Food and Agriculture Organization marks the 17th World Milk Day on June 1, Mongolia is to celebrate the day for the second time under the slogan ‘Let’s bless the future with milk’ this Thursday, Children’s Day.

Prime Minister presents government's actions in light industry
During the Parliament’s plenary session held on May 26, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat presented the Government’s activities towards developing light industry.  According to PM J.Erdenebat, the economic growth has shown increases in the first quarter of 2017. The major products in the sector, namely cashmere, wool, leather, textiles, wood and carpentry products constitute 60 percent of the total output of the industry. As of 2016, around 2 thousand factories were operating in this field, providing workplace for 48.8 thousand people.

Marmot statue made of hunting traps erected against poaching
A statue of marmots, made of hunting traps was erected in Bayan-Uul soum of Dornod aimag. Mongolia’s Network of Managed Resource Protected Areas with MON/13/303 project is being implemented by the UN Development Program and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism. The project implementors jointly with the Department of Specially Protected Areas Administration initiated and financed to construct the monument with an aim to inspire people to conserve marmots and their habitat to raise the population and stop illegal hunting.

Final stage of project on mother and child’s health launched
"Innovation in maternal and newborn health services, Mongolia: from pilot to Institutionalization”, the exit phase of the Telemedicine project was launched today, May 29. The project has been under realization since 2007 with support of UN Population Fund and the Government of Luxembourg.

National currency rate strengthened amid foreign exchange reserves increase
Mongolian national currency rate against US dollar has been tightened in the last several days. According to the Bank of Mongolia, today, May 29, buy rate of one USD equals to MNT2395, and sell rate equals to MNT2406.50 on the interbank foreign exchange platform.  A few days ago, for example on May 25, buy rate was MNT2405 and sell rate was MNT2411.

Arslan Rinchin awarded Sasakawa Health Prize
Scientist from Mongolia Arslan Rinchin has been awarded the Sasakawa Health Prize according to a decision of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO). Mongolian Minister of Health A.Tsogtsetseg accepted the award, on behalf of R.Arslan, during the 70th World Health Assembly.

Deputy PM attends UN disaster risk reduction forum in Mexico
Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh attended the 5th session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, which took place in Cancun city, Mexico on May 22-26. During his participation in the event, he held a meeting with Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home Home Affairs of India.

First ever project to target financial consumer protection underway
The Asian Development Bank established a memorandum of understanding with Bank of Mongolia on realizing financial consumer protection sub-component of Supporting Financial sector development and stability of Mongolia project. Within the project, a study on financial consumer protection was carried-out and a recommendation was released.

Program for Herders’ pre-school children wraps up
Save the Children Mongolia and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports have successfully implemented a project that helps herders’ children make a good start to their education. The project demonstrated significant results for 8,500 herder children, their parents, teachers, community and rural areas.

Mongolian judo team follows Japan and S.Korea by medal count
Members of Mongolian national team of judo has won one gold, three silver and five bronze medals at the Asian Judo Championships 2017, commenced on May 26 in Hong Kong. 18 judokas represented Mongolia at the championships, which attracted a total of 244 wrestlers from 29 countries.

Deputy PM U.Khurelsukh becomes Asian Champion for disaster risk reduction
The Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, H.E. U. Khurelsukh was recognized as an Asian Champion for Disaster Risk Reduction on May 26 at the Global Platform in Mexico. H.E. U. Khurelsukh received the award from United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction Mr Robert Glasser for his consistent passion, commitment and achievement on the issue.

Uvurkhangai aimag to establish meat factory jointly with Chinese and US companies
Uvurkhangai aimag is going to establish a meat processing factory jointly with Hai Chuan Group of Guizhou province, China and Jarves Mongolia Company of USA. During Prime Minister J.Erdnebat's visit to China, Governor of Uvurkhangai aimag G.Ganbold signed a memorandum with the parties on establishing the factory and supplying its product to international markets. Governor G.Ganbold was interviewed on the matter.

Workshop on trade policy held between Mongolia and Korea
