The nationwide voter turnout reaches 18.83 percent in the first five hours of the second ballot of presidential election.

Two loan agreements with ADB ratified
During the last day of the Parliamentary spring session held on July 6, the parliament ratified two loan agreements with the Asian Development Bank. Social Welfare Support  Program Phase 2 is a part of the funding portfolio of the Extended Fund Facility of the International Monetary Fund. 18 policy measures are planned to be taken in two phases, including lowering budget deficit, making social welfare program more efficient and upgrading database of targeted groups. USD 150 million ADB loan will have a 15-year term, including a grace period of three years.

The Parliamentary spring session of 2017 closed yesterday on July 6. The session continued for 55 working days and adopted 18 independent laws, 113 law amendments and ratifications of 9 loan agreements and 30 resolutions.

Renovation of agricultural machinery 60 percent complete
Renovation of agricultural machinery is running with 60 percent completion, importing mainly grain combines and threshing machines, underlined Ts.Bolorchuluun, Chairman of Agriculture Policy implementation management department of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry.

Lakebed of Khukh Nuur cleaned
The "Khuren baavgai” (Brown Bear) company, which runs activities of environmental assessment and research cleaned the bottom of Khukh Nuur (Blue Lake) this spring. The ecosystem of the lake, the lowest point of Mongolia situated in the southwest of Ereentsav soum of Dornod aimag, has been degraded over the last few years due to devastating slug propagation in the Khukh Lake. In this regard, a bid was announced for studies to be financed from aimag budget and "Khuren Baavgai" Company won the bid.

Hague Tribunal dismissed complaint against Mongolian Government
The Government of Mongolia won in the arbitration dispute with three Chinese investors to Tumurtein Khuder Company. The investors appealed to the permanent court of Arbitration at the Hague in February 2010, concerning the Government agency’s decision on cancellation of Tumurtei khuder company’s license of Tumurtei iron ore mine. On June 30, the arbitral tribunal made decision to dismiss the claimants’ requests in full.

Mongolia calls for Northeast Asian countries to hold security dialogue
Under the theme “25 years of CICA: For Asian Security and Development”, the second non-governmental forum of Conference on Interaction and Conference-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) took place in Beijing, China on June 28-29. The forum was attended by over 300 delegates including CICA member states, observer states (organizations) and relevant countries in the region and discussed issues such as security situations in Asia, how to achieve common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security in Asia and jointly build the Belt and Road.

Fire fighting units to be newly established in soums
Fire fighting units will be newly established in Bayan-Undur soum of Orkhon aimag, Khatgal village of Alag-Erdene soum of Khovsgol aimag, Zereg soum of Hovd aimag as well as a search and rescue unit in Erdenedalai soum, Dundgobi province. The Government made this decision considering the high risks of forest, steppe and indoor fires and number of the population, entities and companies of these soums. Fire fighting unit with 4th class has to have 47 employees, but the staff number of the new units has been set to be 39, taking into account the economic difficulties.

Regulations on Establishing Senior's Fund approved
During the Cabinet's regular session on July 4, “Regulations on Establishing Seniors’ Fund” was approved. The Seniors’ Fund will provide additional pension, fuel and support on finding jobs, running businesses, finding accommodations, paying respect on national holidays such as Lunar New Year, building and repairing houses, granting monetary aid for treatment and medicines, organizing cultural and sports event for both retired and working elders.

Nighttime electricity tariff discount involves rural households
“Regulations on Granting Electricity Tariff Discounts to Ger District Households” was revised during the Parliament’s plenary session on July 4.   Accordingly, nighttime electricity cost of ger districts has reduced by 100 percent, while the center of each Aimag and soum with over 10 thousand population will receive 50 percent nighttime electricity discounts. By an estimate, around 140 thousand household will be involved in the discount.
