Voting begins in second round of presidential election

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolians vote in a second round of presidential election for the first time today, July 7.

In the second ballot, 1.978.298 voters cast their votes at 1983 polling stations across the country.

The Mongolian People’s Party candidate Enkhbold Miyegombo and the Democratic Party candidate Battulga Khaltmaa stand in the runoff election after receiving the highest number of votes in the first round.

In the June 26 election, Battulga Khaltmaa led the poll with 517,478 votes, to be followed by Enkhbold Miyegombo who received 411,748 votes whereas the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party candidate Ganbaatar Sainkhuu earned the third position with 409,899 votes. Voter turnout was 68.27 percent in the first round.

The General Election Commission will report on voter turnout at 12 PM, 5 PM and 10 PM today. Polling stations close at 10 PM.
