The Cabinet approved the 2030 General Development Plans for Khovd, provincial center of Khovd aimag, Choibalsan, provincial center of Dornod aimag and Baganuur district of Ulaanbaatar  on December 20.

The Cabinet resolved that Mongolia should join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes and the Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS).

Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons signed
On December 15, Agreement between Mongolia and the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) of the People Republic of China on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons was signed by S.Erdene, Mongolia’s Consul General to Macao and Chan Hoi Fan, Secretary for Administration and Justice of the MSAR.

Coal transport queue in Gashuunsukhait shortened to 49 km
 A working group comprised from the Ministry of Road and Transport Development and National Auto Transportation Center (NATC) worked at Gashuunsukhait border crossing last week and took staged actions on coal transport, resulting to shorten the coal truck queue to 49 km.

Mongolia selected to nominate candidates for US military academies
Mongolia has been selected by the U.S. Departments of Defense and State to nominate candidates to compete for admission the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, and for the first time to the United States Air Force Academy classes of 2022, which enter in July 2018.

MCC Board reselects Mongolia to continue developing a compact
At its quarterly meeting on December 19, the U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Board of Directors reselected Mongolia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Sri Lanka, and Tunisia, enabling the development of compacts in those countries to continue.

Today, December 18, a scientific conference titled ‘Theory-practical issues to amend the Constitution of Mongolia’  took place at the State House. At the scientific conference, participants were heard a report of the Working Group on a Bill to amend the Constitution of Mongolia and the results of public referendum.

Mining Minister works at Erdenet Mining Corporation
On December 14, Mining and Heavy Industry Minister D.Sumiyabazar worked at Erdenet Mining Corporation (EMC). According to the last year’s statistics, the EMC produced 28 percent of Mongolia’s industrial output and 11 percent of export products. So far, EMC has excavated approximately 800 million tons of ore in total.

IMF Executive Board approves USD79.1 million disbursement
On December 15, 2017, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed the first and second reviews of Mongolia’s performance under the program supported by a three-year extended arrangement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). Completion of the review enables Mongolia to draw the equivalent of SDR 55.912 million (about USD 79.1 million), bringing total disbursements under the arrangement to SDR 83.868 million (about USD 118.6 million), reported the IMF.
