Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On January 18, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh met Head of the Republic of Buryatia of the Russian Federation Alexey Sambuevich Tsydenov.
At the meeting, PM U.Khurelsukh said, “We seek equal cooperation with two neighbors, but the level of trade and economic relations with Russia is insufficient. Exporting of Mongolian products to Russian market encounters many obstacles, such as high customs duty and VAT and non-tariff barriers. In recent years, Mongolian government is collaborating actively with Eurasian Economic Commission to eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers in order to balance trade deficit. One of opportunities to expand trade and economic cooperation is to establish a Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Commission.”
“A regular meeting of Mongolia- Russia intergovernmental commission will take place next month. During this event, 13th meeting of sub-commission of the regional and cross-border cooperation of the two countries will be organized. Two sides are working to establish ‘An agreement between the Governments of Mongolia and the Russian Federation on regional and cross-border cooperation’ in near future. We will focus on implementation of the agreement. Trade and economic event titled ‘Mongolia-Russia initiative 2018’ will be organized in Ulaanbaatar in June, 2018. We believe that businesses will take active part in the event,” he added.
Moreover, the PM requested a support from the head of Republic of Buryatia for organizing a fair of Mongolian products in Ulan-Ude.
During the meeting, they also exchanged views on bilateral tourism, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Alexey Tsydenov expressed an interest to import meat and meat products from Mongolia.
