Social welfare in statistical figure
The General Office of Labor and Welfare Service has reported that in the first seven months of this year, pensions and allowances worth of MNT 88.8 billion were granted to 219.0 thousand people from the Social Welfare Fund (SWF). It shows an increase of pension receivers by 10.4 thousand or 5.0%, and amount of pensions and allowances--by MNT 3.8 billion or 4.5% against the previous year.
NEMA First Deputy Head meets Major General Laurie Hummel

In the first seven months of this year, 2,944 disasters and accidents were registered, which shows an increase by 99 accidents against 2016.
Birth rate declines
In the first seven months of this year, 41,977 mothers gave birth and live births were 42,245 compared with previous year, child birth 3629 (8.0%) and live birth 3571 (7.8%) decreased, respectively.
SIF revenue rises
In the first seven months of this year, the General Authority for Health and Social Insurance of Mongolia reported that the revenue of Social Insurance Fund (SIF) amounted to MNT 1.2 trillion, reflecting an increase by 24.1%.
Unemployment rate declines
At the end of July of this year, the Labor and Social Welfare Services Agencies (LSWSAs) registered 37.5 thousand job seekers, of which 72.3% unemployed and remaining 27.7% were people employed but looking for a new or extra job.

World Poetry Days to open tomorrow
Mongolia is hosting a number of events in celebration of World Poetry Days on August 16-22. Information on the event was given at a press conference held at the “Consensus” hall, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. President meets Ambassador of Kazakhstan
Kh.Battulga, the President of Mongolia, received Tuesday Mr K.I.Koblandin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Mongolia, in the State House. President addresses investors’ convention
Kh.Battulga, the President of Mongolia participated in the monthly convention of Mongolian and foreign investors and businessmen held Monday at the “Blue Sky” hotel. After being introduced as a former experienced businessman and taxpayer, Mr Battulga thanked the Business Council of Mongolia (BCM) for holding this convention, and pointed out he met the public representation for the first time 32 days later of his oath.
"Mongolia wants to augment trade turnover with Turkey"
Mongolia-Turkey cooperation, especially in the fields of economy and business are needed to be gone into a new volume, said J.Munkhbat, head of the Cabinet Secretariat for Government, when he met Monday Mr Fatih Ciftci, the Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Customs and Trade. He added Mongolia intends to increase the bilateral trade turnover to USD 250 million.
International Children’s Games start
Opening ceremony of the 7th International Children’s Games (ICG) took place last Saturday on the Chinggis Khaan Square, Ulaanbaatar. Apart from the host country, the ICG is being participated by over 1,000 athletes of Russia and Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of China, to compete in 11 events. This year’s Games added new events—futsal, taekwondo, tennis and some team competitions.
