Number of Takhi increasing in Great Gobi B Specially Protected Area
At one time extinct in the wild, Takhi or Przewalski's horse was reintroduced in Mongolia - its native habitat in 1992, including, Khustain Nuruu National Park, Khomiin Tal and Takhin Tal Nature Reserve in the Great Gobi B Specially Protected Area. The last wild Przewalski's horses had been seen in Mongolia in 1966.

Mongolia to host Asian Judo Championships 2020
During the Executive Committee meeting of Judo Union of Asia /JUA/ held on May 23 in Hong Kong, Mongolia became eligible to host Asian Judo Championships in 2020 the same year the Tokyo Olympic Games to be held.

Mongol Rally 2017 approaching
On May 25-28, ‘Mongol Rally 2017’ three-day auto racing will take place covering a distance of about 15 thousand km in territories of four provinces of Mongolia The competition will be organized in six categories of automobiles, including UAZ, Jeep, UTV, ATV and motorcycle.

On May 12-20, the 2017 Asian Individual Chess Championship took place in Chengdu, China and Grandmaster Ts.Batchuluun became eligible to compete in the Chess World Cup 2017 after taking the fifth place in the tournament.

Ulaanbaatar city department give three hotels in UB star rating
In accordance with a resolution of the Minister of Environment and Tourism based on the decision of a Commission to grant stars to high-class hotels, some hotels operating in Ulaanbaatar city were rated with three to five stars according to their quality. In particular, Best Western Premier Tuushin Hotel got five stars, Bishrelt Hotel - four stars, H9 /Hotel Nine/ and Springs Hotel each received three stars respectively.

25th anniversary of UNICEF Mongolia marked
On May 17, a meeting on the occasion 70th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the 25th anniversary of the foundation of UNICEF representative office in Mongolia took place in Ulaanbaatar.    The meeting was opened by Deputy Health Minister L.Byambasuren. In her speech, she underlined that the Ministry of Health of Mongolia has been collaborating closely with the UNICEF until today and UNICEF has made a great deal of contribution to the health sector of Mongolia.

Erdenet Mining Corporation able to operate another 60 years
During the central region forum of mining industry held in Orkon aimag on May 15-16 on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the development of the mining sector in Mongolia, Director of Erdenet Mining Corporation Kh.Badamsuren briefly informed about the current state of the Erdenet - one of the largest copper mines and some major works completed within the first four months of 2017.

Artists representing Mongolia in Venice Biennale 2017
Biennale Arte 2017, the 57th International Art Exhibition is open to public from May 13 November 26, 2017 in Venice, Italy, with over one thousand artists from 86 countries are participating.  Mongolian artists, including State Prize Laureate artist Sh.Chimeddorj, artist O.Enhktaivan, who is a winner of the Union of Mongolian Artists prize and other young artists, J.Bolortuvshin, G.Munkhbolor and Ts.Davaajargal are participating and unveiling their exhibition titled "Heaven Survivors” to the public.

Mongolian wrestlers win five medals in New Delhi
2017 Senior Asian Free Style Wrestling Championship took place from May 10 to 14 in New Delhi, India.  A Mongolian team of freestyle wrestling athletes of Mongolia successfully attended the competition and won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General during his visit to China and participation in the Belt and Road Summit in Beijing.  At the meeting, Mr. António Guterres “As a person who is interested in history, I would like to remark that the ancestors of Mongolians have created the early history of and inception related to the "Belt and Road" initiative. "The United Nations will provide firm support to Mongolia, especially in the elimination of consequences of natural disasters and disaster risk reduction”.
