Prime Minister holds first meeting with UN Chief

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General during his visit to China and participation in the Belt and Road Summit in Beijing.
At the meeting, Mr. António Guterres “As a person who is interested in history, I would like to remark that the ancestors of Mongolians have created the early history of and inception related to the "Belt and Road" initiative. "The United Nations will provide firm support to Mongolia, especially in the elimination of consequences of natural disasters and disaster risk reduction”.

Furthermore, the PM said that Mongolia will keep contributing to global peacekeeping actions and deeds against human rights violations and gender discrimination under a UN mandate. Also, he informed about possibilities to send engineering unit to UN peacekeeping missions and increase a number of female soldiers of Mongolia.
For his part, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said as Mongolian peacekeepers are highly valued for their skills and competency among international soldiers, the UN will support the proposals forwarded by the Mongolian Premier in all spheres. He then added that Mongolian police officers may be able to participate in the UN peacekeeping operations to fight against human rights violations and gender discrimination by maintaining public safety.
The Mongolian Prime Minister became the first high-level state official to meet with Mr. António Guterres since assumed the office of UN Secretary-General.
