Two Mongolian Boxers Win Medals at World Cup

Ulaanbaatar, July 7, 2025 /MONTSAME/.Mongolian boxers have claimed silver and bronze medals at the World Cup competition held in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.


International Master of Sport G. Lundaa won the silver medal in the men’s 60 kg weight category. After receiving a bye in the first round, he defeated a U.S. boxer with a score of 5:0, then overcame a Kyrgyz opponent 3:2. In the semifinal, he delivered a strong third-round blow to defeat a Japanese boxer, securing at least a bronze. However, he was defeated by a Brazilian boxer in the final, earning the silver medal.


Meanwhile, International Master of Sport O. Byambaa-Erdene secured a bronze medal in the men’s 70 kg division. He won his first two bouts—5:0 against a Korean boxer and 3:2 against a Swedish boxer—before losing 0:5 to a Brazilian opponent in the semifinals.


More than 30 countries took part in this edition of the World Cup. Mongolia was represented by eight male and eight female boxers under the leadership of O. Batkhuu.
