President of Mongolia and the 8th UN Secretary-General Plant Trees in Peacekeepers' Grove

Ulaanbaatar, June 6, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Under the auspices of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the “Sustainability Dialogue 2025 - Climate Action: Billions of Trees” International Forum is underway.


Under the “Billions of Trees” National Movement, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon planted trees in the Peacekeepers’ Grove at the National Garden Park of Mongolia on June 6, 2025. The President of Mongolia noted that this Grove was established to commemorate the 20,000 Mongolian peacekeepers deployed to United Nations peacekeeping operations.


Mr. Ban Ki-moon recalled meeting Mongolian peacekeepers during his tenure as Secretary-General of the United Nations and expressed gratitude to President Khurelsukh for establishing the Grove in honor of the peacekeepers. Members of the Northeast Asian Climate Change Youth Council, United Nations Association, the Forest Department of Mongolia, the National Environmental Youth Advisory Council, and employees of the National Garden Park also planted trees.


According to the Office of Staff of the President of Mongolia, Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres planted a tree in the Peacekeepers’ Grove during his visit to Mongolia in 2022.
