‘Gunees Gund’ exhibition opened at Venice Biennale

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. An exhibition titled ‘Gunees Gund’ (‘A Journey Through Vulnerability’) by J.Munkhtsetseg, an artist participating in the Venice Biennale, continues to attract the attention of international media and art critics.
The Venice Biennale of Fine Arts, also referred to as the Olympics of Arts, was postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event has been open to the long-awaited audience for two weeks since April 23.
During the pre-opening, the ‘Gunees gund’ exhibition was viewed by about 2,000 visitors.
The exhibition’s visitors during the pre-opening included executives and curators of world-renowned museums, such as the Tate Modern in London, the Haywood Gallery, the Rubin Museum of Art in New York, Boston’s Art Museum, Gwangju Biennale in Korea, the Asian Cultural Center, the Danish Arts Foundation, the National Gallery of Canada, the Office for Contemporary Art Norway, the David Zwirner Gallery with branches in New York, London, Paris and Hong Kong, the Rossi & Rossi Gallery with branches in Hong Kong and London, and the Eigen Gallery with branches in Berlin and Leipzig.
Expressing how the exhibition made a great impression, the guests showed interest in sending a research team as the Mongolian fine arts scene is continuing to attract their interest, and opening an exhibition for the pieces made by artist J.Munkhtsetseg as well as other Mongolian artists at their museums and galleries.
More than 30 articles and interviews were published in the international media about the Mongolian exhibition.
Specifically, the ‘Gunees Gund’ exhibition has been ranked 4th of the most interesting Asian pavilions at the Venice Biennale 2022 in an article published by South China Morning Post, and included in the list of 15 Exhibition Highlights (Top Exhibitions) released by Ocula magazine, while the Russian DEL'ARTE magazine also published an article about the exhibition. In addition, the Italian art magazine Artribune took an interview with curator of the exhibition Ms. B.Gantuya.
In addition, journals and websites including American ‘Art News’, ‘Art Asia Pacific’, Italian ‘Artribune’, ‘In Venice Today’, ‘Art News Japan’, African ‘Griot’, ‘Art Rabbit’, ‘Selections Art’, Austrian ‘Esther Art Newsletter’ and Kyrgyzstan's ‘Aki Press’ have published news, articles, and interviews about the Mongolian exhibition at the Venice Biennale.
