On October 2, the 10th batch of Mongolian peacekeepers who will serve in the
NATO-led mission ‘Resolute Support’ in Afghanistan paid a respect to the Flag
of Armed Forces at the central square of the General Staff of the Armed Forces
of Mongolia.
Mongolia first
dispatched its peacekeepers to Afghanistan in 2003.
First Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Mongolian
Armed Forces, Major General R.Sukhbat instructed the batch to fortify the
achievements of previous batches with their unified organization under the one goal
and raise the reputation of Mongolian Armed Forces, despite the fact that the situation in the operation area is not stable.
“One of duties of the armed forces, given by the law, in
times of peace is to participate in peacekeeping operations, which is
significant to implement state policy to ensure national security by
politics-diplomatic means, promote the country abroad and improve capacity of personnel,” he added.
Authorities and officials of the General Staff of the
Mongolian Armed Forces, and families of the peacekeepers attended the event.
