PM U.Khurelsukh receives 71st Yokozuna M.Anand

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On July 25, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh received the 71st Yokozuna (Grand Champion) Kakuryu M.Anand to congratulate him on his recent victory at the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, which took place between July 7 and 21.
Winning the grand sumo tournament, he captured his sixth career title, and was awarded the Emperor’s Cup.
The Prime Minister expressed his pride in the wrestler successfully competing on the professional level, raising the country’s name, and wished him success in the future tournaments.
The Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament was held in Nagoya, Japan for 15 days, with the last day of the tournament taking place on July 21. Yokozuna Kakuryu M.Anand and Yokozuna Hakuho M.Davaajargal, also a Mongolian wrestler, were neck-to-neck with the number of wins from the matches until the last day. For their very last match of the tournament, the two sumo wrestlers were set in a match against each other, and Kakuryu was able to come out victorious, finishing the tournament with 14 wins.
The 71st Yokozuna Kakuryu M.Anand’s previous championship title was from the Natsu (Summer) Grand Sumo Tournament in 2018. The 33-year-old grand champion received his very first title at the Haru (Spring) Grand Sumo Tournament in 2014.
