Proposal raised to give paid-leave to parents caring children under five
SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ The present situation of flu and
flu-like disease outbreak throughout the country was reported at today’s
meeting of the State Emergency Commission. After hearing the report, the
commission decided to submit a proposal to the Cabinet meeting regarding to giving
a paid-leave to parents and guardians who are caring children under five.
As the illness tends to increase, the commission also considered that it urgently necessitates supply of Tamiflu – antiviral medication, and projecting required funds for construction of children’s hospital and the flu vaccination of citizens.
According to the Health Minister, current illness rate is at
9.3 percent at the national level and 7.1 percent in the capital city. There
are 977 beds in children wards of hospitals in total, but the hospitalization rate
increased by 73 percent last week. Thus, rooms of some of the adult patients,
physicians and nurses have been emptied for receiving children, alongside folding
beds placed in the corridors.
“Placing a folding bed is not a normal thing. But it is a
kind of subduing the situation in order to not turn ailing children away. It is
time to build a children’s hospital with 700-1000 beds. We are working to make
additional wards for children at the Central Hospital of Khan-Uul district and
Military Hospital,” stressed the Health Minister.
Presently, health centers and primary health units are working for longer hours with mobilization of undergraduates and medical graduates.
