Mongolia Wins Two Medals at Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics

Summer Deaflympics was held from November 15 to 26, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan, where
the Mongolian team won two bronze medals.
After competing in 21 sports over
11 days, athletes are now heading back home. Of the 3,200 athletes from 81
countries who participated in the Deaflympics, 14 Mongolian athletes competed
in judo, freestyle wrestling, table tennis, athletics, and shooting. The Mongolian
team earned two bronze medals and placed 47th in the overall team standings.
Specifically, in freestyle
wrestling, Erkhembayar Namdagdorj won a bronze medal in the 65 kg weight class
by defeating an Armenian wrestler, while Chinzorig Dorjdagva earned a bronze
medal in the 74 kg class by defeating another Armenian competitor. The
Ukrainian team led with 32 golds, 39 silvers, and 29 bronzes, totaling 100 medals,
while the Japanese hosts secured 16 golds, 12 silvers, and 23 bronzes. A total
of 54 countries won medals, with 36 returning home with gold.
The Deaflympics is not just a competition, but a movement that fosters confidence, motivation, and self-esteem among the hearing-impaired community, promoting their culture and language through sports on an international level. The first International Silent Games for hearing-impaired individuals were held in 1924 in Paris, France.
