Mongolia – U.S. cooperation issues discussed

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On April 24, Yo. Otgonbayar, Mongolia’s Ambassador to the USA, held a video meeting with Jonathan Fritz, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, U.S. Department of State, exchanging views on the present state of Mongolia – U.S. relations and cooperation and other issues.

Ambassador Yo. Otgonbayar briefed about the Mongolian government’s response to COVID-19 spread and recent conditions. On behalf of the Government of Mongolia, the Ambassador expressed sincere appreciation for U.S. assistance worth USD1.2 million, provided as a support to Mongolia’s COVID-19 response.

The sides discussed preparations for a regular consultative meeting between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the U.S. Department of State in Ulaanbaatar and unanimously noted that the current situation with the spread of novel coronavirus indicates the significance of bilateral economic and consular cooperation.
