Chief of Staff to President meets U.S. business delegation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On October 29, Chief of Staff to the President of Mongolia Z.Enkhbold met with Alan Turley, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for China and Mongolia, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Alan Turley noted that his visit is an effort for realization of talks between the presidents of Mongolia and the United States about constantly working together to expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation held during Mongolian President Kh.Battulga’s visit to USA in July, 2019. He also voiced his view that it is completely possible to deepen business partnerships in Mongolia’s potential sectors such as agriculture, information technology, and tourism.


The U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary is accompanied by business representatives in his third working visit to Mongolia. Representatives of the Dow Chemical Company, Wabtec Corporation, and Wagner Asia equipment LLC introduced their operations and shared their views on opportunities for cooperation with Mongolia.


Underlining that Mongolia has abundant resources of cashmere and rare earth elements and other raw materials, Chief of Staff to the President Z.Enkhbold called for the U.S. side to conduct businesses in these sectors. He also said the approval of the Mongolia Third Neighbor Trade Act will bring positive impacts on Mongolia’s economy and enable the country to satisfy 50 percent of the global cashmere demand by itself.

Mr. Z.Enkhbold then emphasized that Mongolia has the resources to supply energy to Northeast Asian countries at reasonable prices and the country has been working innovatively at regional level, inviting major U.S. companies such as the General Electric Company to build their plants in Mongolia and cooperate.


Deputy Assistant Secretary Alan Turley highlighted that U.S. companies seek to engage in long-term, stable operation in Mongolia and the two sides have to maintain constant cooperation for this.
