Foreign Minister receives UN Special Rapporteur

November 29, Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsesteg held a meeting with
United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women,
its causes and consequences Reem Alsalem.
Minister B.Battsesteg presented
Mongolia’s policies and actions on human rights, particularly gender equality
and violence against women.
As part of its policy of open
cooperation with the United Nations and its specialized agencies in human
rights, Mongolia sent standing invitations to UN Special Rapporteurs in 2004
and Ms. Reem Alsalem is the 10th Special Rapporteur to visit Mongolia at the
invitation.
The UN Special Rapporteur on
violence against women, its causes and consequences will stay in Mongolia between
November 29 and December 8.
