Energy efficient houses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Rising greenhouse gas emissions are
the biggest cause of global warming and climate change. The German and Swiss
funded Energy Efficiency Building Refurbishment in Mongolia project mainly
focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from energy consumption in public
and private buildings.
Within the project lifetime, 30 energy efficient houses were built in ger areas and 22 kindergarten and school buildings in Ulaanbaatar city have been energetically refurbished. Those buildings are now able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in equivalent to 135.000 tons of carbon dioxide and are first examples to be used in a more transparent and gender sensitive public investment management and for creating energy Efficiency action plans (LEEAP) in Ulaanbaatar and in future also other Mongolian Regions.
