Working group to be set up to ease congestion in Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its recent meeting, the capital city governor’s council heard a report on large businesses that can be relocated out of the city to break congestion in the capital city. 25,288 people sell goods at 111 markets and shopping centers in Ulaanbaatar, of which 57 percent or 14,340 work at Narantuul and Kharkhorin markets, Bumbugur shopping center, and 100 ail building materials market, and Bars market.
The markets and shopping centers located near main streets add to traffic congestion in the city. On the days the markets and shopping centers are closed, there are 10-15 percent less vehicles at nearby intersections. Moreover, of the country’s 88 universities and colleges and 147,293 students, 79 universities and colleges and 141,391 students are in Ulaanbaatar. Therefore, at the meeting, it was decided to establish a new working group to develop an action plan, hold meetings with the businesses covered in the report, and submit measures and draft resolutions as part of the policy to solve Ulaanbaatar’s congestion issue.
