Khentii wastewater treatment plant put in trial operation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The new wastewater treatment plant in Chinggis city of Khentii aimag opened on August 10. Wastewater treatment facilities are being built in nine aimags as part of the Asian Development Bank’s Southeast Gobi Urban and Border Town Development Project. The environmentally friendly one in Khentii aimag has a daily capacity of 3,000 cubic meters and the treated wastewater can be reused for the irrigation of green spaces and street cleaning. The sewage sludge will be recycled into fuel. 


The wastewater treatment plants were designed by Mongolian engineers to suit the climate of Mongolia. Some 25 employees of Khentii Us LLC responsible for the management of the plant have received the necessary training. The plant will be in trial operation for a year.

 

A local company called Comfort Impex LLC constructed the plant in compliance with appropriate standard quality within the scheduled timeframe.
