Feasibility study carried into building rest areas along main tourist roads

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 2020-2024 Action program of the
Government of Mongolia includes building rest areas along roads to famous tourist
sites. The Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Ministry of Road and
Transport Development have carried out a feasibility study into building rest
stops and service centers every 150 to 200k km along main tourist roads.
On October 22, with support from the Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA), a workshop was organized for representatives of the
organizations that will be involved in the project including Ministry of Construction
and Urban Development, Ministry of Road and Transport Development, National
Development Agency, Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and
the private sector specialists of 21 aimags, and researchers.
As part of JICA’s Project for Formulation of National
Comprehensive Development Plan, national standards and regulations necessary
for building ‘Urtuu’ rest areas will be defined.
