Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Senior Advisor to the Speaker of the State Great Khural D.Lundeejantsan and Director of the Parliamentary Research Institute of the Secretariat of the State Great Khural T.Bayarmaa met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Mongolia Michael S. Klecheski on October 14.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on developing parliamentary governance, strengthening democracy and developing policy and research cooperation.

Senior Advisor D.Lundeejantsan said, “The newly established Parliamentary Research Institute has an important role in ensuring that laws and decisions passed by the Parliament are research-based. Since the establishment of a permanent parliament in Mongolia, American scholars and researchers have provided valuable advice on the strengthening of democracy and the drafting of the Constitution. The participation of research institutions plays important role in bringing bilateral cooperation to a new level. Therefore, it is crucial to support the cooperation of the Parliamentary Research Institute, the US Congressional Research Service and the Library of Congress.”

Expressing his readiness to work together in all aspects to develop parliamentary governance, Ambassador Michael S. Klecheski said, “The embassy will pay attention to open up cooperation opportunities with the Library of Congress and professional parliamentary research organizations. The role of the two embassies and the U.S.-Mongolia Parliamentary group in the Parliament of Mongolia is important in expanding bilateral cooperation”. Furthermore, he expressed hope that there will be an opportunity to hold meetings and implement programs to exchange experience after the outbreak of COVID-19 subsides.
