Asia team, involving Mongolian chess players, becomes World Champion

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The junior chess team of Asia became the winner of the Intercontinental Youth Team Online Chess Cup, organized through Tornelo Online Playing server on October 10 by the Judit Polgar Chess Foundation and European Chess Union within the 6th Global Chess Festival.

Thanks to close cooperation between the Mongolia Chess Federation and the Asian Chess Federation during the COVID-19 pandemic, five young chess players of Mongolia, namely E.Azjargal, B. Tenuunbold, L. Ochirbat, D. Munkhzul and D. Batsuren, were included in the Asia team.




64 junior chess players from four continents: Asia, Europe, Africa and America participated in the online competition. Second place went to Team Europe. Team America took the third place, while team Africa came fourth. All the 64 players will receive a Masterclass (1.5 hour) by GM Judit Polgar in two Groups of 32 players.

During the opening ceremony that took place online, Grandmaster Judit Polgar sent a video message to the participants. Team Asia was coached by Bharat Singh, Secretary of All-India Chess Federation.
