New equipment presented to National Trauma and Orthopedic Research Center

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On October 8, renovation completed for the building of central sterilization department of the National Trauma and Orthopedic Research Center and new equipment have been put into commission in the framework of the Fifth Health Sector Development Project, reported the Ministry of Health.
The rules and regulations currently being followed on the prevention and control of infection at healthcare institutions have been also renewed, and over 1,000 doctors, medical specialists, and those in charge of sterilization were involved in training to deepen their theoretical knowledge.
During the ceremony, Minister of Health T.Munkhsaikhan highlighted the necessity of strengthening the monitoring system for infection control, improving the quality of sterilization, and providing modern sterilization equipment in phases, and increase human resources in the framework of the national program on the prevention and monitoring of infectious diseases that was approved by the Government of Mongolia in November 2017.
He then said, “In the framework of the Fifth Health Sector Development Project, the National Trauma and Orthopedic Research Center’s central sterilization department building has been renovated (MNT 461.6 million) and 14 types of 20 equipment (MNT 845.4 million) are being provided, making an investment of a total of MNT 1.3 billion in the center.
In aims of providing support for readiness against the COVID-19 pandemic and countermeasures, the Government of Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank signed an agreement for additional financing of USD 30 million for the project in May 2020. With the financing, the central sterilization departments of seven aimag hospitals in the aimags of Arkhangai, Tuv, Gobisumber, Dundgobi, Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai, and Bayan-Ulgii will be fully renovated.”
