Four young Mongolians chosen for Obama Foundation Leaders: Asia-Pacific program

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Four young Mongolians have been selected and attended the Obama Foundation Leaders Forum that took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on December 10-14, to begin their journey in the foundation’s first ever Asia-Pacific program. More specifically, D.Enkhtsetseg from Open Society Forum, D.Munkhbat from Global Green Growth Institute, B.Mungunkhishig from UNICEF Mongolia, B.Bulganchimeg from UN Development Program have been chosen to the program.


The Obama Foundation Leaders: Asia-Pacific program is one-year leadership development and community engagement program seeks to inspire, empower, and connect emerging leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region.


Two hundred emerging leaders from the Asia-Pacific came together for five days of intensive skill-building workshops, leadership development training, and a community service project to kick off the one year-long program.

Over the course of the five-day convening, President and Mrs. Obama, as well as other prominent speakers and thought leaders joined Leaders for discussions about progress and opportunity in the Asia-Pacific region and values-based leadership. 

Former Member of the Mongolian Parliament and Minister of Environment and Green Development S.Oyun is working as Director of External Affairs of the Green Climate Fund headquartered in Incheon, South Korea and she attended as a panelist in the first discussion of the forum, sharing her experience on involving governments of the countries in activities against climate change. In her talks Ms. S.Oyun remarked that Mongolians' nomadic way of lifestyle which practiced living friendly to the environment and the nature and avoiding from over usage is a big intelligence to protect our nature.”
