National Program for elders’ development and protection approved
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At its regular meeting on October 30, the
Cabinet approved ‘National program for elders’ development and protection’.
The national program will be
implemented with local budgets, foreign loan and assistance and donation of international
organizations.
Within the framework of the
program, 62 kinds of activities will be carried out in directions of improving
livelihoods of elders, protecting them from poverty, encouraging the state of wellbeing
and healthy aging, building long-term assistance and service structure,
building capacity of elders as well as improving living conditions and
environment.
In Mongolia,
elders above 60 made up 6.4 percent of the total population in 2015 and it is likely to reach 11.9
percent by 2030 and 21.1 percent by 2050.
