Conference on urban disaster resilience held

/MONTSAME/ On September 27, an international academic conference themed ‘Ways
to strengthen disaster resilience in urban areas’ was co-organized by the
National Emergency Management Agency and the United Nations Office for Disaster
Risk Reduction (UNDRR) with the purpose of increasing participation of scientific
institutions and scholars in disaster risk reduction and disaster resilience enhancement
in urban areas.
Officials of the Governor’s office of the capital city, UN Resident Coordinator in Mongolia, UNDRR representatives, and Mongolian, Japanese, South Korean, Russian, and Chinese scholars took part in the conference, discussing over 30 presentations. At the conference, discussions were held on prevention of earthquakes, disasters, fires and human-made disasters through a plenary and two parallel sessions on disaster risk governance and disaster resilient city.
