Defense Minister meets Ambassadors
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Defense Minister N.Enkhbold held meetings with Ambassadors of the United States, the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Korea respectively on March 4 and exchanged views on expanding defense sector’s cooperation.
‘Khaan Quest’ multinational peacekeeping operations to be jointly organized
During the meeting with the U.S. Ambassador Michael Klecheski, Mr.
Enkhbold underlined that bilateral relations are successfully developing in
many sectors and among them, cooperation of armed forces and defense has an important position.
The sides confirmed to expand bilateral cooperation in defense
sector and co-organize multinational peacekeeping exercise ‘Khaan Quest’. They expressed
their satisfaction that this ever-expanding multinational peacekeeping exercise
-- an expression of bilateral cooperation of defense sector, is becoming more
reputable not only in the region but also in the worldwide.
Roles of military attaches highlighted to expand cooperation
At the meeting with
Mr. Ahmet Yazal, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Enkhbold expressed gratitude
to Turkish government and its Ministry of Defense for supporting reforms in
Mongolia’s armed forces and granting military equipment and facility as non-refundable
assistance within the military cooperation of the two countries.
Mr. Enkhbold also notified that Mongolia resolved an issue to
have a military attache at the Embassy of Mongolia to Turkey while mentioning
an importance of a role of military attaches in developing cooperation in the
future.
As a head of intergovernmental commission between two countries,
Mr. Enkhbold shared views on expanding bilateral relations and cooperation in
all sectors.
For his part, the Ambassador emphasized that Mongolia-Turkey
cooperation in defense sector is expanding year by year and expressed an interest
to elevate the relations to a new level, organize reciprocal visits of high and
medium level officials of the sector and cooperate in improving skills and knowledge
of military personnel and the capacity of armed forces and exchanging mutual
experiences.

The sides mutually expressed their satisfaction with outcomes of
implementation of many important events held last year including consultative
meeting of Defense Ministries and joint military exercises of armed forces of
the two countries.
Ambassador Chung Jae-nam raised proposals to
organize a number of events in defense sector on occasion of 30th
anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea which
will be marked in 2020.
