MIAT receives its new Boeing 737-8MAX aircraft

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On February 1, new aircraft of MIAT ‘Вoeing 737-8Max’ landed at Chinggis Khaan International Airport.


With the purpose of increasing the number of seats and renewing its aircraft fleet, MIAT signed an operating agreement with Avolon company for two Boeing 737 Max Aircraft in 2017.


The new aircraft covered a distance of 9000 km en route Seattle, the USA to Mongolia for almost seven hours. Member of the Parliament and former Minister of Road and Transport Development Ya.Sodbaatar, Executive Director of MIAT D.Battur, the authorities of the Civil Aviation Authority and staffs of MIAT witnessed the arrival of the new aircraft ‘Boeing 737-8MAX’, named as ‘Tolui Khaan’.


MIAT will use the aircraft on a long-term lease of 12 years and receive the second one in May. With the complete renewal of its fleet with the newest aircraft, the airline company will become the airline with the newest aircraft in Asia by 2020. The people attended the ceremony noted that Mongolian pilots have been acknowledged at the international level, meeting a high-level of professionalism.


During the ceremony, officials presented the advantages of the new ‘Вoeing 737-8МАХ’ such as it consumes 14 percent less fuel than other similar aircraft, provide comfort for passengers and eco-friendly. Moreover, the passengers are able to use Wi-Fi on their cell phones and tablets and watch Hollywood films.
