12 teams compete in national selection of ‘Citizen’ project

Ulaanbaatar .MONTSAME/ National selection of ‘Citizen’ project was held today in Citizens’ Hall of the Office of the President.

President Kh.Battulga attended the national selection of the project and delivered an opening speech. He said that meaning of the project is learn children to tackle pressing issues in locality or at the school themselves, discussing the issues and solving it together. "Becoming an active and sociable citizen who has well communication skill from the early age will give great stimulus to accelerate development of Mongolia and to improve the society."

12 teams competed in the final stage of the project selection. In scope of the project, teams initiate projects  to tackle their issues or pressing environmental issues and aim to implement it in reality. Students of the 29th special school presented their ‘Light Bell’ project suggesting to use lighting school bell instead of sound bell in special schools.
  
The United States Agency for International Development and ‘World Learning’ organizations support the ‘Citizen’ project which is being implemented by the Center for Citizenship Education since 1996, involving a total of 7300 teachers and pupils.
