‘My home-safe environment’ campaign runs

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ A month campaign ‘My Home-Safe Environment’ is running these days at health and other organizations of Ulaanbaatar city, with a purpose to intensify implementation of National Program on Preventing and Controlling non-communicable diseases’ and form right habits of living.  

In recent years, a number of illness, injuries and death rates that were caused by home accidents are increasing. According to 2017, 15.8 percent of phone calls received at Emergency Center and about 33 percent of children’s sickness applied to trauma center and departments. In 2017, the number of child injuries and illness rose by 10 percent against the previous year. There were 6051 cases of burns recorded, of which 69.3 percent were children’s burns.

Alongside, emergency calls regarding domestic violence rose by 2.2-fold and bone fracture cases increased by three-fold whilst  domestic violence crime declined by 9.6 percent within a year after the Law on Combat Domestic Violence came into effect.     
    
It causes a necessity to intensify prevention measures and inter-sector collaboration, increase involvement of parents and public, give required services to victims and organize medical educational trainings to public.   

It is expected that the campaign will improve people’s awareness and attitude to prevent from home accidents, inter-sector collaboration on prevention of violence and rendering services, accessibility and quality of medical services and capacity of staff and nursery skills at schools and kindergartens.
