Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Students have joined a voluntary program initiated by the ‘We Can Do’ NGO and launched activities for youths and children with disabilities.

Started in June of this year, the program has joined 18 students. They have initiated a variety of projects for the disabled, such as, furnishing training rooms of the 10th kindergarten of children with paralysis. The kindergarten’s original building has been pulled down due to going out of usage.

The voluntary program is making traffic signals for visually-impaired people, in collaboration with students of the Machine Intelligence Laboratory at the National University of Mongolia (NUM). The device will be produced in a large number after testing.

In addition, the program is producing a series of short documentaries about problems faced to the disabled in order to attract the public attention to the issue. One piece of the documentaries shows one day of a wheel-chaired person, who faces a lot of difficulties when traveling outside and going to several places. Through the documentary, the person talks about his/her solutions to tackle the problems.

Next voluntary program is expected to launch by end of this month and it will last for a year with support from the U.S Embassy in Mongolia.
