Violence-related crime declines

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Statistics show that 783 crimes of violence were registered in first eight months of this year, declining by 152 or 16.3 per cent, compared to the same period of previous year.
After effectiveness of the law against domestic violence, 1,329 people sentenced in accordance with court decisions and the accused people were involved in compulsory training on ethics. 98 percent of them have not been convicted of the crimes again.
Almost 87 per cent of the crimes related to domestic violence are committed secretly or behind doors, so it is vital to reduce and prevent this kind of crime by immediately reporting to police, the General Police Department said.
